Rope for Hope 2019 Toronto Climbers Team

Each year Toronto Climbers raise funds for Make-A-Wish Canada by rappelling down the 30-storey east wall of Toronto City Hall, and in the last two years we’ve raised an incredible $118,000 for Make-A-Wish. We had lots of fun doing it, including gourmet dinners courtesy of Chef Bryan Thompson, silent auctions to help rappellers raise funds, and of course the rappel days themselves.

A few of our team members were initially worried about finding the required $1,500 worth of donors, but all were willing to give it a try, and each raised at least $1,500 for each campaign. In my experience, raising the money is not as hard as it sounds. Most people are willing to donate on your behalf when they hear that you’re willing to throw yourself off the top of City Hall, especially for such a good cause!

And Make-a-Wish is definitely a good cause! It has an impressive mission; to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, with a view to giving them increased hope, strength and enjoyment of life.

The next City Hall rappel will take place on Friday, June 8, 2019, and we’re looking for ten more rappellers for next year’s Toronto Climbers team. Bryan has again offered his chef services for another outstanding gourmet dinner for the team.
