Why? A rare opportunity to climb gneiss!

We are excited to announce that the ACC Toronto Section Annual Mountaineering camp will be held in the Gold Range in British Columbia this year.  This year’s camp will be part of the 2020 BMC (Backcountry Mountaineering Camp) operated by Galena Mountain Guides. (

 The Camp will be located in the Gold Range of the Southern Monashees about 75 km south of Revelstoke BC.  This is a rare opportunity to get out and climb some Gneiss!  The area has something for all levels of climbing, from 4th class ridge scrambling to 5.9 climbing and glacier traverses for mountaineers.  Further information about the BMC location can be found on their website at

Depending on interest from Toronto Section members, the Mountaineering Camp will be structured as:

  • 1 or 2 instructional groups (e.g., Introduction to Mountaineering Course, Advanced Mountaineering Course);
  • 1 or 2 regular guided groups; and
  • 1 self-guided group.

The Mountaineering Camp can accommodate up to 13 instructional or guided participants, plus a few self-guided participants for a total 15 participants overall for the week.

The cost for the instructional or guided participant is $2,430 + GST per person; the cost for self-guided participant is $2,009 + GST per person.  These costs include the shuttle bus fee. A non-refundable/non=transferable 20% deposit will be due to Galena Mountain Guides at time of booking (December 2019), with the remaining balance due 60 days prior to the start of the Camp.
