Avalanche Beacon Search Clinic

November 24th, 2019, 2:00 – 5:00 pm, High Park

This will be an opportunity to practice avalanche beacon search skills. This event is relevant for all skiers and climbers venturing into avalanche terrain in the winter, including many objectives in the Adirondacks and New Hampshire. THIS CLINIC IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR FORMAL AVALANCHE TRAINING, SUCH AS AST 1 OR 2.

We will start with a review of the basics of beacon search, and then practice single and multiple burial searches with one and multiple rescuers.

COST: No cost

GEAR: A few beacons will be available for use by participants. Participants who own their own avalanche beacons should bring them. We’ll be outside for the duration of the clinic, so dress appropriately for the weather.
