Everest. The trip was the culmination of a 40 year odyssey from being a boy interested in mountaineering in the high mountain ranges, to a better-late-than-never novice climber located in Toronto, to a more experienced climber with the skills and experience to tackle Ama Dablam on an early winter attempt with climbing sherpa support.

The trip, starting in Chengdu, Sichuan and ending in Lhasa, Tibet featured major passes with elevation differences of 1500 m and 2000 m. Fay in the Moraine Lake region spending two nights at Neil Colgan Hut, the highest permanent building in Canada. The approach to the hut involved a 6-8 hour hike, with great views along the way and two short technical climbs.
