We’re also looking for members that will be able to help with organizing next year’s section camp and/or other mountaineering trips. If you are interested in helping to select, plan, and organize the next section camp, we want you! Mountaineering experience is preferred, but not required. Looking for folks who can commit 1-3 hrs a month in the fall to organize the trip. If interested, please reach out to mountaineering@alpineclubtoronto.ca

Whether you’re an experienced competitor, route setter, belayer, judge, or simply passionate about climbing, we want you! Our goal is to create fun, welcoming, and well-organized events that provide an accessible pathway for climbers to learn, train, and compete.

Volunteers are needed to help with event planning, route setting, equipment, scoring, registration, photography, sponsorship, and day-of-event operations. No previous competition experience is required—just a willingness to pitch in and help make these events a success. If you want to contribute to the growth of dry tooling in Ontario while connecting with a great community of climbers, reach out to Drytool Night at drytoolnight@gmail.com. Together, we can build a strong local competition scene for everyone.

South Ontario’s annual Beaver Valley Climbing Festival hosted by Ontario Access Coalition will take place August 14th to 16th. The festival features camping, climbing, and all around good times! Meet other climbers, enjoy the food, vendors, and entertainment while being minutes away from many local crags such as Devil’s Glen, Old Baldy, Metcalfe, Swamp and many more! The Toronto section will be supporting this event by hosting a climbing meetup on Saturday August 15th featuring some choice routes ready to be climbed on top rope.

Highlights include:

• Camping at McNichol Farm, minutes from Metcalfe Rock,
• Saturday dinner with live music,
• Raffle prizes and giveaways totaling thousands of dollars,
• Vendors and gear demos,
• Evening bonfires and hangouts, and
• Supporting Ontario climbing access

Proceeds from the festival support the Ontario Access Coalition’s work to protect outdoor climbing access in Ontario.

• Adult members pay $30 per day/night
• Youth members aged 13-18 pay half price ($15 per day/night)
• Children under 13 are free
• Non-members pay $60 per day/night, $30 for youth
• Season Pass is 10 x normal price (i.e. $300 for adult, $150 for youth)

Ontario Alliance of Climbers is once again hosting the Beaver Valley Climbing Festival from August 14-16. Our Section participates in the festival by hosting a ‘Climbing Meet Up’. We are looking for ACC member that are willing to volunteer and help promote our club at the festival.

What to expect:

• Setup top ropes for beginner climbers (location TBD; likely Metcalfe) by leading easy sport routes at the beginning of the day
• Monitoring participants, ensuring safe belaying, waiver signing and light mentorship
• Hosting an ACC booth, advertising our section and promoting ACC events.

• $1450 – Self-guided
• $2811 – Introduction to Mountaineering – Waitlist only
• $2002 – Intermediate Mountaineering (3 Days) – Waitlist only
• $2553 – Intermediate Mountaineering (6 Days) – Waitlist only

Applications for the 2025 ACC Climbing Leadership Course are now being accepted. This year’s course will be held in Squamish, BC from August 7th to 10th, 2026 with two evening online sessions on August 3rd and 4th, 2026. It will focus on the skills needed to run a top rope crag session, including hazard management, anchor building, rope management, rescue skills and more!

The trip is posed on ACC National’s Website as Section Climbing Leadership Course; you will need to login to apply. Also note that application requires section endorsement; please contact Stanis Yu at leadership@alpineclubtoronto.ca if you are interested in applying and have questions.

Applicants will be required to submit a complete application no later than midnight (PT) on May 31st, 2026.

We’re pleased to report yet another successful year of garbage clearing at Tiffany Falls and Devil’s Punchbowl along Hamilton’s Escarpment. Throughout the year, various garbage and trash finds its way into these conservation areas; some with steep incline – a perfect opportunity for our club to lend a hand on cleanup week! Particularly for Tiffany Falls, our club has interest in keeping these areas clean as we benefit from ice climbing there – when the weather cooperates. Huge shoutout to all the volunteers that pushed through on the cleaning efforts despite somewhat questionable weather this past weekend.
