Topic: What happens when you drop a group of ACC adventurers into the heart of a Quebec winter? You get a week of frozen waterfalls, thigh-burning descents, and some of the best après culture on the planet. From the technical ice at Montmorency Falls to the dizzying views of the St. Lawrence while carving Le Massif, our adventurers pushed their limits by day and recovered in style by night. Join us on April 7th as we recap a journey of ice tools, luge runs, and legendary cottage lore.

As many were aware, our long-standing Pub Nite location (The Imperial) sadly closed late last year. However, this did not mean the end for our section’s monthly social gathering; we’re pleased to announce a new location and schedule for this season’s Pub Nite Series! Our Pub Nite Series for this season will be on the first Tuesday of every month at C’est What? near St. Lawrence Market.

What to expect:
Our social evening will begin after 7 pm, kicking off the evening at 7:30 pm. At 8 pm, a guest speaker will regale us with stories of adventure followed by more social time. This is a great place to get to know your fellow club members or know more about the club!

Topic: Join us as our guest speaker Roger Wallis speaks about Rogers Pass (mountain range in BC), which is the location of this year’s Section Camp. Topic: Perfect weather, jaw dropping landscapes, multipitch chaos, Greek cuisine, and stray cats at every turn – what more could you ask for from a climbing trip! A group of friends decided to roll the dice on an off-season Greece vacation and came back with memories that’ll stay with them forever. Join us for our last official Pub Nite of the season as Addie tells you all the inside secrets, with many chaotic adventure stories mixed in!

Topic: 100 years ago, the Alpine Club of Canada organized the first expedition to Mount Logan, Canada‘s highest peak, located in what is now Kluane National Park in the Yukon territory. With a summit at 5,959 m in elevation and a circumference larger than any non-volcanic massif on earth, the 1925 expedition was faced with extreme temperatures, vast glaciers, and rugged terrain. Their accomplishment is one of the greatest in Canadian mountaineering history. Join Bryan Thompson and members of the Canadian Explorations Heritage Society as they present the 1925 film of the expedition: “The Conquest of Mt Logan,” and discuss their plans to re-enact this historic climb.

Topic: Join us for as renowned Canadian para-athlete Peter Eager returns to give a talk on Mt. Lefroy. Mt. Lefroy, situated on the Continental Divide is one of Canada’s more iconic mountains that many might also recognized as a famous Group of Seven painting by Lawren Harris. His adventure inspired the SING! animated short film ‘Be Inspired’ which will also be screened.

Film description:
“Be Inspired” is based on the famous painting “Mt. Lefroy” by Group of Seven Canadian artist Lawren Harris. It is the animated story of renowned Canadian para-athlete Peter Eager, ice climbing, rock climbing, and hiking Lefroy in Lake Louise. The character has to face the many challenges of this mountain, which was the scene of the first fatal tragedy in Canadian alpine climbing history. All of the music is performed by voices, a cappella, composed by Aaron Jensen. Special guest artist Colin Mochrie voices the character in the backpack.
