<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Come connect with other ACC Toronto Section members and get your climbing on with a day of self-guided and self-directed rock climbing at [Rattlesnake Point/Mt. Nemo/Buffalo Crag/Devil&#8217;s Glen]. &nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We&#8217;ll meet in the parking lot&nbsp;at 9:00 am&nbsp;before hiking in as a group&nbsp;at 9:30 am.&nbsp; Once at the crag members are welcome to set top-ropes, and lead sport or trad climbs as they see fit.&nbsp; Based on group preferences we&#8217;ll move along the crag sampling a variety of classic Ontario rock climbs. Members may break away from the main group to pursue specific self-guided objectives with other&nbsp;members, or may head out early.&nbsp; Members are welcome to come with climbing partners prearranged, or to join up with other members during the meet-up.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Note if a member opts to climb with any non-ACC Toronto Section members at the crag, that member will be understood to have opted to no longer be a participant in this trip.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Members may share ropes and gear, but please ensure that your gear is well maintained and bring enough gear to be self-sufficient and safe.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This trip is suitable for competent outdoor climbers (lead or top-tope), but is not suitable for those new to or inexperienced with outdoor climbing. This is neither a guided&nbsp;trip nor a clinic. All members will be individually responsible for managing their own safety. &nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>MAX. PARTICIPANTS:</strong> 15-20, at the trip leader’s discretion and pending volunteer availability.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>REQUIRED GEAR:</strong>&nbsp;Climbing helmet (mandatory), climbing harness (mandatory), climbing shoes, belay device and pear-shaped locking carabiner, &nbsp;rope, appropriate rack, anchoring materials, personal climbing gear (e.g. chalkbag, nut tool, personal lockers, personal prussik, tether, etc.), and any other personal items (e.g. lunch &amp; snacks for the day, water, bug spray, appropriate clothing, day pack, etc.).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Walk/jog up and down the hill at Riverdale Park East by Broadview and Millbrook streetcar stop. Keep your heart rate and morale high. Keep a steady pace/effort that should not feel hard at any time during the workout but may leave you pleasantly tired at the end. This event occurs rain&nbsp;or shine.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Itinerary:</strong><br>Meet at the top of the hill on Broadview Street – Workout starts 6:45 pm SHARP.<br>Warmup – 10 minutes.<br>Training – 1 hour.<br>Cool down – 5 minutes.<br>Depending on interest, we will find a pub on the Danforth.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>COST:</strong> Free</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>GEAR:</strong> Reflective vest recommended. Hiking boots/running shoes, appropriate clothing for weather conditions, water, and headlamp. Weighted backpack optional. Depending on weather, the hill could be slippery.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>DESCRIPTION:</strong> A rock climbing outing/clinic at Rattlesnake Point where participants will review some basic knots and how to set up top-rope anchors on bolts and then get an opportunity to do some top-rope climbing. Open to both beginner and more-experienced climbers. All participants should know how to tie-in to a rope and how to belay a climber on top-rope (participants that don&#8217;t will be provided instruction).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Participants will review these basic knots: overhand, figure of eight and figure of eight on a bight, fisherman’s knot, double-fisherman’s knot, clove hitch, water knot (for webbing)</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Participants will review three basic top-rop anchor set-ups: basic tied-off equalized anchor, sliding X with limiter knots, quad anchor</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>MAX. PARTICIPANTS:</strong>&nbsp;15, at the trip leader’s discretion and pending volunteer availability.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>REQUIRED GEAR:</strong>&nbsp;Climbing helmet (mandatory), climbing harness, climbing shoes, belay device and pear-shaped locking carabiner, personal tether (e.g. sewn sling with locking carabiner, PAS with locking carabiner, Petzl Connect, etc., &#8230;) and any other personal items (e.g. lunch &amp; snacks for the day, water, appropriate clothing, day pack, etc., &#8230;)</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>OPTIONAL GEAR</strong>:<br>If you have this gear, you are welcome to bring it to the clinic:</p>
