<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Come connect with other ACC Toronto Section members and get your climbing on with a day of self-guided and self-directed rock climbing at Buffalo Crag. &nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We’ll meet in the parking lot&nbsp;at 9:00 am&nbsp;before hiking in as a group&nbsp;at 9:30 am.&nbsp; Once at the crag members are welcome to set top-ropes, and lead sport or trad climbs as they see fit.&nbsp; Based on group preferences we’ll move along the crag sampling a variety of classic Ontario rock climbs. Members may break away from the main group to pursue specific self-guided objectives with other&nbsp;members, or may head out early.&nbsp; Members are welcome to come with climbing partners prearranged, or to join up with other members during the meet-up.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Note if a member opts to climb with any non-ACC Toronto Section members at the crag, that member will be understood to have opted to no longer be a participant in this trip.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Members may share ropes and gear, but please ensure that your gear is well maintained and bring enough gear to be self-sufficient and safe.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This trip is suitable for competent outdoor climbers (lead or top-tope), but is not suitable for those new to or inexperienced with outdoor climbing. This is neither a guided&nbsp;trip nor a clinic. All members will be individually responsible for managing their own safety. &nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>MAX. PARTICIPANTS:</strong>&nbsp;15-20, at the trip leader’s discretion and pending volunteer availability.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>REQUIRED GEAR:</strong>&nbsp;Climbing helmet (mandatory), climbing harness (mandatory), climbing shoes, belay device and pear-shaped locking carabiner, &nbsp;rope, appropriate rack, anchoring materials, personal climbing gear (e.g. chalkbag, nut tool, personal lockers, personal prussik, tether, etc.), and any other personal items (e.g. lunch &amp; snacks for the day, water, bug spray, appropriate clothing, day pack, etc.).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>DESCRIPTION:</strong> This trip will be a way to escape the tail end of Canadian winter in the southern hemisphere and enjoy four days of Trad and Sport Rock Climbing, and 2 days of trekking in <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/PMUFwAsCmTTSGKcE6" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cajón del Maipo</a> area of Chile. One day of rest is planned to account for weather and administration. Participants must be either able to trad lead or top roper belay with a grigri, with an appropriate mix of participants. Participants must also be capable of full day hikes with a 20lb pack, living in shared accommodations (Airbnb), and collaborate on meal prep in a group setting. We will attempt to accommodate individual needs where practical. All participants will be reviewed by the Trip Leader prior to paying deposit.<br><br>Final day for registration: Feb 21, 2025</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>COST:</strong><br><strong>Total Estimated Cost:&nbsp;</strong>$2000 CAD including round trip flights (YYZ to SCL). <p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Description:</strong>&nbsp;Day trip to Niagara Glen for an introductory bouldering day. All boulder pads and guidebooks will be provided for use. Morning session on bouldering safety that includes Niagara Glen rules, boulder selection, pad placement, spotting and falling will be available to all participants that will give a good foundation for safe bouldering at the glen. There are a massive number of routes all over the glen to choose from, from V0 to V-insanely difficult. So, we’ll start at Wonderland, moving on to Old Country and Land of Oz, depending on timing.&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">*Niagara Glen Bouldering Permit, Niagara Glen Bouldering Waiver are mandatory to participate.&nbsp; Adhering to all Niagara Glen Bouldering Rules is mandatory. See below for details.<br>*Application required to participate.&nbsp; See below for details.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Pre-requisites</strong>: Ideal participants will have some experience bouldering outdoors or indoors. Indoor climbers should have a minimum of experience climbing a V3. Minimum outdoor experience at V0.&nbsp;</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Application process:</strong>&nbsp;If you are interested, please send your brief climbing experience to the trip leader highlighting bouldering, sport or trad climbing level. Carpooling is available if participants are willing to share their cars.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">All participants should be able to climb a V3 indoors, and a V0 outdoors or 5.10 sport. Anyone under that limit might have a hard time climbing, and we want to avoid uncontrolled falls as much as possible for introductory sessions.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Gear provided:</strong><br>Boulder Pads<br>First Aid Kit<br>Some Chalk, Climbing Tape and other essentials that people might need or miss.<br><br><strong>Gear needed:</strong><br>Climbing shoes<br>Food, snacks and water for the day<br>Dress and plan accordingly to the weather.&nbsp; Be prepared to spend a full day outdoor with no immediate indoor relief.&nbsp; Washrooms are by the parking lot &#8211; the approach is 5-10 minutes.<br>Sunscreen and bug spray.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Trip Classification:</strong>&nbsp;A</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Trip Hazards:&nbsp;</strong><br>Falls and Belaying &#8211; safe falling, partner spotting, and pad placement instruction available.<br>Communication and Rescue &#8211; proximity to the border and geography can limit reception.&nbsp; Additionally rescue approaches from the parking; be aware that the approach involves a metal staircase.<br>General Hazards &#8211; paths are line with stones and can be slippery.<br><br>The largest risk during bouldering is falling, and to mitigate the risk, the safety seminar will help with that. Falling instruction is available, spotting instruction is also available, pad placement instruction is available. These three elements should give climbers a good foundation for safe bouldering.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>ACC Waiver:</strong>&nbsp;Signing of ACC trip waiver is mandatory.
