WHAT: Intro to Trad Climbing

WHERE: Kelso or Rattlesnake Conservation Area
Depending on weather and temperature.
DESCRIPTION: This is a practical clinic to give you the opportunity to second and clean gear or mock lead to practice placing gear. There’s a chance for you to lead on 5.1-5.5, if you can demonstrate you know and understand how to build an anchor. You must know how to belay a leader and catch a leader fall. It’s helpful if you can rappel.
Participants: 4-6, depending on how many experienced leaders I have helping.
COST: Park fee around $7.
GEAR: Helmet (mandatory), harness, climbing shoes, belay device, rope, long slings, biners, protection gear, nut tool, lunch, water, sunscreen and insect repellent/clothing.

2. Do you know how to belay a leader and catch a leader fall?
3. Do you lead, for how long? Indoors or outdoors? 4. Can you belay a second from the top?

6. Do you have a rope? A trad rack?
