The ACC Toronto Section annual week-long summer Mountaineering Camp is the key activity in the Mountaineering calendar. The Mountaineering Camp is usually held in Western Canada with either hike-in or helicopter access to an ACC hut or a tent-based accommodation for between 12 to 20 participants, depending upon location in the mountains.
Participants are expected to have basic mountaineering tools (e.g., ice axe, crampons, 30-40L pack, standard climbing equipment, etc.), good climbing skills, as well as a strong level of aerobic fitness. The Toronto Section usually offers an Alpine Skills Beginner Course for participants who are new to glacier travel and movement in the mountains, and sometimes an Advanced Course for more experienced mountaineers. These courses would be taught by an ACMG certified guide.
