Seas, Summits and Hospitals – the extreme adventures of Peter Eager
Peter has been sailing since he was 9 yrs old. He started climbing in 1974. He climbed in Yosemite in the 70’s; sailed across the Pacific in 1980 and then climbed in the Southern Alps in New Zealand.
Peter has also climbed and/or trekked in Nepal, Pakistan, Peru and the Canadian Rockies. After being stricken with Guillain-Barre Syndrome while trekking in Pakistan, Peter recovered for 29 years, during which he continued skiing, sailing and climbing. He has won 4 Sailing World Championships. In 2010, his illness returned, leaving him completely paralyzed and on life support for 3 months, followed by another 10 months in hospital. Since then, Peter continues to climb and sail as a sponsored athlete, on both the Ontario and Canadian Sailing Development Squad (National),
lending inspiration to us all!
Peter’s slideshow will share his journey from seas to rock faces to mountains to hospitals and back.
Imperial Pub, 54 Dundas St E, 7:30pm in the back room.
