Thanksgiving weekend

This event, which started off modestly, has grown enormously as more members realize the delights of celebrating Thanksgiving among friends in a fine autumn setting. The format in recent years has evolved into a combination of catered/pot luck supper on the Saturday night. (A number of people will leave Sunday afternoon or early Monday to go back for family gatherings.)
Anyone who signs up should co-ordinate with Bryan Thompson regarding a pot luck dish to feed 10 — appetizers, salads, vegetables or desserts. The price will be posted as soon as it’s firmed up. Maximum participants: 30-35, depending on how many people help the custodians with boat duties.
Otherwise, it’s climbing as usual. Because the cliff lies within a provincial park, there are rules that must be observed (mandatory helmets is one). Make yourself familiar with them at the section website: alpineclubtoronto.ca/bonecho/
The ACC hut is on the far side of the lake, and most climbers get there by the club boat. Usual pickup times at the public dock are 10:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Other times must be arranged ahead of time with the custodian.
CUSTODIAN: Contact Bryan Thompson at patrowski@hotmail.com by Thursday evening at the latest to let him know your pickup time. As well, it’s recommended you book your spot several weeks in advance as this is a very popular event.
HUT FEES: Members: $20 per day/night. Non-members: $40 per day/night. Fees include boat transport to the dock and cliff.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The hut is for cooking and eating only, with dinnerware and cooking equipment provided. Climbers sleep in their own tents. There is a limited number of campsites.Please pack out your garbage. The last boat trip to the dock is at 5 p.m. Monday (unless the custodian advises otherwise). Please respect the custodian’s right to go home at a reasonable hour.
