SUMMER SOLSTICE CAMP & CLIMB
Rattlesnake Point campground off the lower parking lot
3 p.m. Friday, June 21 — noon Sunday, June 23, 2019
This will be our 12th annual summer solstice weekend at Rattlesnake. This popular event takes advantage of the long daylight hours, which allow you to maximize your time on the rock.
Group campsite No. 13 has been booked for the Friday and Saturday nights. We’ve used it in the past — it’s large and only two minutes from the comfort station.
As usual, musical instruments (and players) are welcome for the evening campfires. The past two years Friday evening has been homemade sushi night (regular and vegetarian) — if there’s interest we can do that again. Our permit lets us stay the entire Sunday but our tents must be off the site by noon.
TRIP LEADER: To sign up or get more info, contact David Henderson at 416-267-5562 or hendo1954@yahoo.ca or James Snetsinger at james@snetsinger.org and let them know whether you will be camping both Friday and Saturday, or just one night, or coming just for the day.
COST: Camping fees are set at $30 per person for the weekend, payable upon signing up. Eight people make it a break-even weekend. If more than eight sign up, then fees will be proportionately lower and you’ll get a refund. (If a week before the event — that’s the park’s deadline — it turns out that fewer than eight have signed up, then the event will be cancelled.)
Those who come just for the day pay the park’s day fee ($7).
WARNING: There are wild critters in the trees around the campsite so don’t leave food in your tent. They will rip open your tent to get at it. Ask someone with a car if you may put your cooler in it overnight.
TRIP CLASSIFICATION: A/B (depending on the climbs you choose)
WAIVER: All participants are required to read, understand and sign a colour copy of the standard club waiver: https://alpineclubtoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/ACCWaiver.pdf
