ACC Toronto Section Mountaineering Camp – Mons Icefield, BC
June 30, 2019 - July 7, 2019
The ACC Toronto Section has been offered “Week 0” of the 2019 BMC (Backcountry Mountaineering Camp) which is being offered by Galena Mountain Guides (www.galenamountainguides.ca). The Camp will be located near Golden BC at the Mons Icefield area with access to six summits over 11,000’ including the 5 Lyell peaks, Mount Forbes and Mons Peak, plus several other objectives. The Mountaineering Camp will accommodate 14 Toronto Section participants for the week.
Based on input and feedback from the 2018 camp with BMC, “Week 0” in 2019 is planned to be structured as follows:
Introduction to Mountaineering Course: 1 ACMG guide for 4 participants
Advanced Mountaineering Course: 1 ACMG guide for 4 participants
ACMG guide + 1 guide practicum for 6 participants
The cost for the ACMG guided week is $2,250 + GST per person.
Galena Mountain Guides has given the Toronto Section a “self-guided” option for the 6 “non-course” participants at a reduced price ($1,850 + GST per person) if the demand, skill level and mountaineering experience is warranted.

REGISTRATION:
To allow everyone a fair chance to attend, registration for the 2019 ACC Toronto Section Mountaineering Camp will begin on Wednesday December 19, 2018 at 8:00 pm EST. Please send an email to the Mountaineering Coordinator, Sean Russell, at ski_dude_sbr@hotmail.com and indicate whether you wish to register for:
Introduction to Mountaineering Course; or
Advanced Mountaineering Course; or
Guided Participant; or
Non-Guided Participant
Please provide information regarding your previous mountaineering experience (e.g., camps, courses, peaks, etc., and any other relevant information) and please provide a phone number should we need to discuss your experience.
NOTES:
Registrants for the Camp will be put on the list on a first come, first served basis, for the particular Camp category (i.e., course, etc.) in which they are interested and in the order in which they email the Mountaineering Coordinator.
A screening process will then take place to determine a registrant’s eligibility.
The “non-guided” option for the 6 non-course participants will be reviewed and discussed to determine if the option is viable.
Following eligibility screening, a list of participant names and associated courses for “Week 0” will be sent to Galena Mountain Guides by December 21, 2018.
A 20% deposit is due at time of booking (~ December 2018), with the balance due 60 days prior to the start of Camp (April 30, 2019).
No registrations will be taken prior to 8:00 pm EST on December 19, 2018.
No one under the age of 18 may register for Camp.
Camp is for ACC members only.
GETTING THERE:
Participants will meet in Golden BC in the evening of Saturday June 29, 2019 to go over the final logistics and plans for the Camp. In the early morning (6:00 am MDT) of June 30, 2019, the group will meet up with their gear and depart from Golden BC on a shuttle for transport to the helicopter staging area.
