Algoma Alternative #7 Ice Climbing Weekend

February 15, 2019 - February 18, 2019

Algoma Alternative #7 Ice Climbing Weekend

WHEN: Feb 15 – 18, 2019 (Family Day Weekend)
Departure will be Friday, Feb. 15 (after work); return on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019.

WHERE: Blind River, Iron Bridge, Ontario (6 hours north of Toronto)

DESCRIPTION: Usually multiple areas with multiple climbs between 20-50 metres high. Conditions in Algoma so far this year have been POOR. There should still be enough to climb, but likely not as many routes in one spot – further travel may be required.

ACCOMMODATION: We will be staying at a cottage at the Mountain View Camp on Lake Duborne, 13-14 kilometres north of Blind River. There’s room for up to 14 participants at the moment (with the possibility of renting another cottage, if more people are interested). Cost: $25-$35 per person per night (depending on how many people go).

FOOD: Cook your own breakfasts and Saturday dinner at the cottages. Sunday evening dinner at the 17 Diner.

TRANSPORTATION: Cars (carpooling when possible)

TRIP LEADER: For further information, contact Danylo Darewych at dedokvadratu@yahoo.ca

TRIP CLASSIFICATION: B

A certain amount of independence and experience in participants is preferred (i.e. the ability to follow printed guidebook directions and set up own top-ropes), because the trip leader (Danylo) wants to go on a couple of wild goose chases. Everyone is invited to come along, but these might prove to be futile and/or involve a lot of standing around and waiting while the aforementioned trip leader scratches his way up some obscure climb in the bush.

Participants must read the waiver before attending and sign it at the event.
