Docking In weekend
Custodian: TBA
Saturday, April 27 – Sunday, April 28, 2019
This is unusually early but we’re hoping for the ice to be off the lake quickly so we can get the dock into the water, which will allow the builder to come and quickly finish off most of the remaining work on the new hut.
A small work crew is required to help get the dock back into the water and carry out other chores to get the hut ready for the rock climbing season. Those who help out get points towards rewards
The date is dependent on the weather. If it’s cold, it will be pushed to the following weekend.
If the weather warrants, it is climbing as usual. Because the cliff lies within a provincial park, there are rules that must be observed (mandatory helmets is one). Make yourself familiar with them at the section website: alpineclubtoronto.ca/bonecho/
The ACC hut is on the far side of the lake, and most climbers get there by the club boat. Usual pickup times at the public dock on North Mazinaw Heights Rd. are 10:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Other times must be arranged ahead of time with the custodian.
CUSTODIAN: TBA
HUT FEES: Members: $20 per day/night. Non-members: $40 per day/night. Fees include boat transport to the dock and cliff.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The hut is for cooking and eating only, with dinnerware and cooking equipment provided. Climbers sleep in their own tents. There is a limited number of campsites.
Please pack out your garbage. The last boat trip to the dock is at 5 p.m. Sunday (unless the custodian advises otherwise). Please respect the custodian’s right to go home at a reasonable hour.
TRIP CLASSIFICATION: B/C
WAIVER: You must read and understand it ahead of time and sign a colour copy in ink on arrival: https://alpineclubtoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/ACCWaiver.pdf
