Trip: Cascade Mountains 2022 – July 1 – 18

DESCRIPTION:  Hiking and mountaineering trip in California – Oregon – Washington states.
We will travel by car from south to north along Cascades Mountain range while gradually gaining altitude for acclimatization. After 3 days hiking in Yosemite (including the hike to summit Half Dome), we will attempt climbing Mount Shasta (4‎,322 m) if snow/ice routes (such as Avalanche route) will be available. An alternative plan in case there is not enough ice on Shasta is to climb Mt. Saint Helens. Last week of the trip we will climb Mt. Rainier (4,392 m); currently planning on Disappointment Cleaver route.

The trip will include ~2,500km driving, a lot of hiking and climbing 2 mountains above 4,000m – so all participants will be required to train physically and technically in the next 3 months. Training will include running, long hikes with weighted pack, crevasse rescue and at least one trip to Bon Echo to climb together as a team.
