Description: Day trip to Niagara Glen for an introductory bouldering day. All boulder pads and guidebooks will be provided for use. Morning session on bouldering safety that includes Niagara Glen rules, boulder selection, pad placement, spotting and falling will be available to all participants that will give a good foundation for safe bouldering at the glen. There are a massive number of routes all over the glen to choose from, from V0 to V-insanely difficult. So, we’ll start at Wonderland, moving on to Old Country and Land of Oz, depending on timing.

Pre-requisites: Ideal participants will have some experience bouldering outdoors or indoors. Indoor climbers should have a minimum of experience climbing a V3. Minimum outdoor experience at V0.
Application process: If you are interested, please send your brief climbing experience to the trip leader highlighting bouldering, sport or trad climbing level. Carpooling is available if participants are willing to share their cars.
All participants should be able to climb a V3 indoors, and a V0 outdoors or 5.10 sport. Anyone under that limit might have a hard time climbing, and we want to avoid uncontrolled falls as much as possible for introductory sessions.

$28 CAD + tx for single day bouldering permit
$50 CAD + tx for annual bouldering permit

Purchase your pass online, then you must go to the Butterfly Conservatory to get the physical pass and parking permit.
Bouldering Waiver must be filled out beforehand. Print and submit the physical waiver to the Butterfly Conservatory.

Some Chalk, Climbing Tape and other essentials that people might need or miss.

Food, snacks and water for the day
Dress and plan accordingly to the weather. Be prepared to spend a full day outdoor with no immediate indoor relief. Washrooms are by the parking lot – the approach is 5-10 minutes.
Sunscreen and bug spray.

Trip Hazards:
Falls and Belaying – safe falling, partner spotting, and pad placement instruction available.
Communication and Rescue – proximity to the border and geography can limit reception. Additionally rescue approaches from the parking; be aware that the approach involves a metal staircase.
General Hazards – paths are line with stones and can be slippery.
The largest risk during bouldering is falling, and to mitigate the risk, the safety seminar will help with that. Falling instruction is available, spotting instruction is also available, pad placement instruction is available. These three elements should give climbers a good foundation for safe bouldering.
ACC Waiver: Signing of ACC trip waiver is mandatory. Please be read and be aware of the ACC waiver before attending. Members sign the waiver when completing renewal/registration. Please ensure that your membership is up to date. Non-members are asked to sign the waiver in person when attending.
Purchase of bouldering pass, signing of the bouldering waiver and reviewing bouldering rules for the Glen is mandatory.
