Ice Climbing: Diamond Lake for Women and Genderqueer People – Feb 8

WHEN: Saturday February 8, 2025 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

WHERE: Diamond Lake, Madawaska Valley, ON K0J, Canada. Further access details to be provided to participants.

DESCRIPTION: This winter climbing trip is for female and genderqueer climbers to go ice and mixed climbing in a community-centered and supportive environment. Join us for a day of top roping moderate ice and mixed routes at Diamond Lake (weather permitting). All ice climbing skill levels are welcome. 

Note: This is not a course or clinic, and will offer no formal teaching. Rather, peer mentorship may be shared between participants with ranging experience levels.

TRANSPORTATION: Carpools are typically self organized amongst selected applicants – please indicate in your application if you are a driver and how many folks you would be able to bring.

ACCOMODATION: We recommend staying at the Arlington Hostel the night before as it is a 3.5 hour drive from Toronto and then we will be climbing all day. Folks are welcome to stay and climb on Sunday although this will not be a formally organized part of the trip. https://thearlington.ca/

TRIP CLASSIFICATION: A/B. Be aware of any hazards with regards to each activity. Participants must be proficient at top rope belaying.

MAX PARTICIPANTS: 12

COST: There is no cost for this trip.

GEAR: We will have a limited amount of gear (12 sets) we will be able to provide for participants (ice tools, boots, technical crampons, belay devices), provided by Climb Smart Shop (https://climbsmartshop.com) for those who sign up before February 1st. If you have any of your own gear, please note this in the application. Participants will be expected to bring their own harnesses, helmets, and cold weather gear/clothing, and ideally your own belay devices if you have them.

WAIVER: Signing of ACC trip waiver is mandatory. Please be read and be aware of the ACC waiver before attending. Members sign the waiver when completing renewal/registration.  Please ensure that your membership is up to date. Non-members are asked to sign the waiver in person
