Popular well travelled route. Reaching the 6,190m summit involves establishing four camps on the glacier and lugging ~100lbs of food and gear by sled / backpack. Coming off the recent events at Devil’s Glen Provincial Park, Ontario Alliance of Climbers (OAC) has launched a letter writing campaign in an effort to make our voice heard. In support of climbing access in Ontario, please take 5 minutes to write a letter to government officials and spread word of this campaign to others. DESCRIPTION: This clinic is intended for climbers that need a refresher on sport climbing skills and for climbers that have been lead climbing indoors and aspire to transition from plastic holds in the gym onto Ontario limestone in the great outdoors! WHEN: June 11th, 2023, 8AM to 3PM. WHERE: Natural crevasses on the Bruce Trail close to Kelso area. The exact location will be communicated to participants prior to the event. DESCRIPTION: Practice crevasse rescue skills in various scenarios including hauling a person out of the crevasse using pulley systems and self-rescue by ascending rope. There have been some further developments for climbing at Devil’s Glen which have been on the radar for the past year. Once again, Ontario Alliance of Climbers has been monitoring and updating the community on the situation. As it stands, there are signs indicating areas of no rock climbing (within the park).
