We are looking for a Marketing Specialist and a Technical Specialist. A Marketing Specialist will help with creating and gathering content for our website, social media feeds, and ClimbOn Newsletter. The Toronto Section has set the dates for our annual Canadian Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid and Advanced Wilderness First Certification Courses. They will be held on April 26-28 and May 4-5, respectively.  Participants who lead two trips subsequent to taking one of these two courses will be eligible for a 50% rebate on course fees.  Weekend 1: CANADIAN RED CROSS WILDERNESS AND REMOTE FIRST AID CERTIFICATION. Dear Mountaineers The North Face Leadership Course is The Alpine Club Of Canada’s flagship program for training aspiring section trip leaders. Through alpine environments and technical travel, these leadership courses emphasize the ‘human-factor’ in leader’s decision-making, applicable to ACC activities across Canada. The Toronto section can endorse up one candidate for the course. We are now accepting applications. Toronto Section Opportunities Fund … financial support available for special projects The Toronto Section is pleased to continue a funding initiative successfully launched in 2012. The Opportunities Fund is a cash award intended to assist Toronto Section Members in good standing to help cover costs involved in climbing-related projects beyond those encompassed by Leadership Programs. The individual or group wishing support is required to submit a written grant application. Award amounts are based on funding and on the budget requirements of each application. Each year Toronto Climbers raise funds for Make-A-Wish Canada by rappelling down the 30-storey east wall of Toronto City Hall, and in the last two years we’ve raised an incredible $118,000 for Make-A-Wish. We had lots of fun doing it, including gourmet dinners courtesy of Chef Bryan Thompson, silent auctions to help rappellers raise funds, and of course the rappel days themselves.  A few of our team members were initially worried about finding the required $1,500 worth of donors, but all were willing to give it a try, and each raised at least $1,500 for each campaign.
